18MR is a project of Citizen Engagement Lab to promote Asian/Pacific Islander-American civic engagement by leveraging the power of technology and social media. I provided Executive Coaching to the Executive Director as well as strategy and development support.

The Funders' Collaborative on Youth Organizing: Strategy, Program Design, Executive Coaching, Talent Recruitment

FCYO is a national intermediary dedicated to advancing resources for the field of youth organizing.  I supported the organization through one of its special projects focused on organizing philanthropy for social justice.  I liaised a group of social justice funders to develop and implement strategies to mobilize peers and philanthropic institutions to adopt a greater social justice orientation and coordinate resources for movement building.  Further, I facilitated and networked large conversations with multiple funding partners.  As the outgoing Executive Director of FCYO, I supported the current Executive Director in his leadership capacities, fundraising and development as well asdeveloping creating content.

The Global Forum on MSM and HIV: Capacity Assessment Tool Development and Leadership Coaching

MSMGF works worldwide against HIV for the health and human rights of men who have sex with men.I developed a tool for MSMGF’s grassroots partners in Latin America and East Africa to assess their own internal capacity and identify their capacity building needs in order to reach their socio-political goals at the local and country level.  I also provided leadership coaching for US-based program staff.  

The California Endowment: Program/Strategy Review and Design

As the largest private, statewide health foundation in California and one of the largest in the country, TCE’s mission is to expand access to quality, affordable health care for communities most impacted by societal inequities and to promote fundamental improvements in the health status of all Californians. I led an administrative review and initial redesign of TCE’s youth-related strategy through their Building Healthy Communities initiative in 14 places and across the state of California. 

International Women's Health Coalition: Grantmaking Program Management and Evaluation Support

IWHC is an international, feminist organization dedicated to advancing reproductive justice and human rights globally. During 2013-2014, the organization underwent a major transition and during that period I provided support to their Asia Program work, including managing grantmaking and relationships. In addition, I helped strategize as the organization developed a system of metrics to measure their success. .

Mama Cash- Fund for Women: Strategic Planning Facilitation

Mama Cash, based in the Netherlands, was the first international women’s fund in the world and is today the largest women’s fund in Europe.  They support women’s rights globally, including reproductive, economic and environmental justice efforts at the grassroots level.  I led the facilitation and design of their 2015-2020 Strategic plan, working with their entire staff and board to produce a vision and blueprint with a strong focus on demonstrating impact. 

National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures: Organizational Development Support and Fundraising Strategy Development

NALAC is the nation’s leading non-profit organization exclusively dedicated to the promotion, advancement, development and cultivation of the Latino arts field.  I led NALAC’s development work, with an emphasis on institutional and individual donor strategy and implementation.  In addition, I provided organizational development support with overall organizational strategy and fiscal oversight. 

The Seasons Fund for Social Transformation: Research and Writing

The Seasons Fund was a collaborative grantmaking effort guided by foundation and field leaders who shared the core belief that a rich inner life, the capacity for self-reflection, and the ability to sustain authentic relationships all enhanced the impact, effectiveness and sustainability of social change initiatives.  I conducted a scan of the field and philanthropy and produced a report in order to help the Seasons Fund ascertain gaps and opportunities to bolster support to the work of transformative social change.  Since completion of this project, the Seasons Fund has since closed. 

South by Southwest Experiment: Strategic Planning Facilitation and Leadership Transition Support

SxSWE builds multi-racial power by developing sustainable relationships between low-wealth, grassroots African-American, Latino, Indigenous communities, leaders, and public officials in the South and Southwest United States.I facilitated SxSWE’s three sites (Albuquerque, NM, San Antonio, TX, Jackson, MS) to evaluate work thus far, develop a vision for their future work, garner greater buy-in and support from organizational leads and other partner organizations in each site and develop a transition plan for SxSWE’s leadership.

The Strozzi Institute and generative somatics: Research and Proposed Certification and Licensing Models 

The Strozzi Institute (SI) and generative somatics (gs) are a merged tandem organization that centers somatics as a transformative path for individual, organizational and social change. Their shared vision includes building a new model of organizational sustainability and interdependence for the sake of larger social change. SI is a Benefit Corporation whose mission is to create leaders, teams, and organizations, which embody skillful action, grounded compassion, and pragmatic wisdom.  gs is a fiscally sponsored non-profit organization whose mission is to grow a transformative social and environmental justice movement that integrates the personal and social transformation necessary to accomplish systemic change. I developed certification and licensing of their models as well as other measures to protect and promote their intellectual property to ensure quality and depth of service provision.

The W. K. Kellogg Foundation: Program Design

As one of the largest foundations in the country, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation supports children, families and communities as they strengthen and create conditions that propel vulnerable children to achieve success as individuals and as contributors to the larger community and society. I provided support to their Michigan state team to explore the possibility of extending programming to engaging increased civic participation and the unaddressed needs of the growing rural, migrant Latino population.  

Movement Strategy Center: Program Design, Meeting Facilitation, Research and Writing

MSC is a national intermediary that seeks to create a social justice movement ecosystem of deeply connected groups that share values and rely on each other to respond to the needs of impacted communities, advance policy solutions, and transform the lives of people on the frontlines of change. I expanded the organization’s funder services offer by supporting conceptual and collaborative efforts among cohorts of funders working in particular sectors, including the environment, gender justice, and democracy building. I supported MSC’s overall strategy, including crafting internal and external communications for foundations. I helped streamline a set of tools, previously developed by MSC, for future use with existing and new partners to advance strategy, collaboration, vision and innovation. I assisted the incubation of a project focused on building thriving, local economies as a model for the 21st century.

The Working World: Organizational Development, Fundraising Strategy, Communications

The Working World is an alternative financial institution providing investment capital and technical support for worker cooperatives in Argentina, Nicaragua and now in the US. Since 2005 TWW has made more than 700 loans, worth over $3.5 million, to over 150 cooperatives in Argentina and Nicaragua, ranging from metal-working to honey-farming groups. TWW has reinvested capital into a revolving-loan fund ten times over with a more than 98% repayment rate. As TWW began bringing their unique, innovative and proven model to the US to expand work here I provided organizational development, communications and fundraising supports to help expand the growth of domestic democratic worker cooperatives.

Realizing Sexual and Reproductive Justice: Founding Meeting Facilitation and Executive Coaching

RESURJ is a global alliance of feminists under the age of 40, working to advance reproductive justice and movement building strategies from the grassroots to the grasstops globally.  I facilitated the first retreat that resulted in RESURJ’s creation. I have also supported a leadership transition with executive coaching. 

Adhikaar for Human Rights: Talent Recruitment, Organizational Development, Executive and Team Coaching

Adhikaar for Human Rights is a Nepali-focused social justice and community organizing group based in Queens, New York City.  They spearheaded ground breaking work on exposing worker abuses and advancing protections for nail salon employees.  I facilitate a leadership transition, including an Executive search for their new Executive Director and facilitated several conversations related to strategy and transition support.  

The Hyams Foundation: Executive Leadership Coaching, Transition Support and Strategy Design

The Hyams Foundation provides grants and resources to Boston-serving organizations advancing racial justice.  I provide tools and support to the new President, including strategy design.  

The Nathan Cummings Foundation: Strategy Design, Grantmaking Support

The Nathan Cummings Foundation is a family foundation rooted in the Jewish tradition aimed at addressing inequality and the climate crisis.  I support the racial and economic justice focus area in grantmaking, overall strategy and design.  I also engage in cross organizational strategy, facilitating an overall strategic alignment.  

Neighborhood Funders Group, Project Phoenix

NFG is a philanthropic affinity group devoted to social justice issues.  Project Phoenix is a part of NFG and is a space for funders devoted to sustainable local economies and economic justice, in particular, have engaged in an intentional period of collective learning and exploration.  I conducted a project laying the groundwork for a session exploring efforts in San Diego, California.  My work entailed a landscape analysis and possible learning schedule for Projet Phoenix participants in San Diego.
